Today marks another epic milestone in the Tyre and West families. My sister is in the process of giving birth as I type this!! And of course, in typical Lisa style, she has chosen to experience this for the third time in a cabin, in the middle of nowhere in Franconia, MN which has a 15amp electrical system on the fritz and is therefore heated by wood fires (last I heard it was up to 60 degrees!). She will enjoy this among the company of close friends and family while submerged in a birthing tub, with no drugs, a midwife, and a small team of doulas to assist along the way.
The picture above shows the birthing tub with Skull-n-Crossbones Cody and Rotten-Bones Dylan who were both born in it. Yarrrr!! On the right is my awesome little brother Sean, part of the team of helpers, master of hilarity and primary communicator of progress. The whole team up and drove to the cabin this morning and little Jesse Merrell West just arrived as I'm typing this sentence!
The cabin doesn't have internet access and spotty cell service. Thankfully, however, my brother has been able to give us status updates via facebook through his iPad(!!), which I can honestly say is the best use of social media evar!! especially if you can't be there holding your sister's hand through this momentous occasion. Here is an amusing play by play of this miracle unfolding from the frozen tundra....
